Discovery day - Guided tours
Considered the cradle of Bordeaux wines, the Graves and Pessac-Léognan appellations, located south of Bordeaux, are also the closet to the city.
Every Thursday, two châteaux belonging to the 1953 classification of great growths* will be glad to welcome you and provide you with experience matching wine and food. This option has three advantages. It is close to the city, very intense, and also rather brief, since you will be back in Bordeaux by 3 pm.
The red and white wines are suited to just about all foods. The reds are wonderful with both traditional and modern cuisine, while the whites have the unusual ability to age well.
The first visit at 10 am includes a cellar tour and a tasting of wine with cheese, chocolate, dried fruit, or nuts, as the château owners prefer.
The second visit at 11:30 am is followed by lunch. These estates, some of which are world-famous, extend a warm, relaxed welcome to visitors. Instead of a formal meal in a château, you will enjoy lunch outdoors on the château grounds, on the terrace, or in the shade of trees a hundred years old!
Your return to the city centre at 3 pm will leave you plenty of time for further discoveries!
