Although not as common as in other wine regions, Bordeaux has improved its offering of wineries's restaurant in recent years. Not restricted to those who visit the winery, menus vary from the simple staples of terrine and entrecôte to more refined seafood dishes with scallops and oysters and even Michelin-starred cuisine.
So many great names in gastronomy are associated with the world of wine such as Nicolas Masse in Sources de Caudalie or Jean Luc Rocha in Château Cordeillan Bages. Unsurprisingly, wine lists are heavily weighted towards the winery’s wines with some interesting older vintages featuring. Most have outdoor seating, allowing customers to admire the view of the vineyards, or in the case of La Terrasse Rouge at Château La Dominique, those of their neighbour, Château Cheval Blanc.
