Gastronomic events

Early wine tourists to Bordeaux were sometimes fortunate to be invited to lunch at the château owner’s home following their tour.  Whilst visitors may not be so lucky nowadays, the number of châteaux including meals as part of their visitor offering is increasing. Options range from picnics in 19th-century gardens to seasonal dishes served under vine covered terasse or dinners in lavish dining rooms, prepared by in-house chefs and in the company of the owner. During harvest or open house weekends, certain wineries serve a barbeque lunch, cooked on sarment vine cuttings and enjoyed on chequered table cloth covered trestle tables.
