Guests can visit the cellars and tasting room at Château Smith Haut Lafitte, ride bikes or jog through the forest, treat themselves to Caudalie treatments at the spa or enjoy the idyllic pool. And the Michelin-starred restaurant La Grand’Vigne with chef Nicolas Masse serves delicious, innovative cuisine.
Located at Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte owned by Daniel and Florence Cathiard, Les Sources de Caudalie is a five-star family-owned palace and spa that helped propel the Bordeaux wine region into a top tourist destination. While Daniel and Florence run the wine business, their daughters have followed their parents’ entrepreneurial spirit.
The palace and spa is run by their daughter Alice Cathiard-Tourbier and her husband Jerome Tourbier. The Tourbiers have created a rustic chic décor that immediately enfolds visitors in a world of beauty and comfort.
The spa highlights the talents of Mathilde Cathiard-Thomas and her husband Bertrand Thomas, who launched the beauty product line Caudalie based on the anti-ageing properties found in grape seed polyphenols. The spa offers beauty treatments, an indoor and outdoor pool, and gym. And the estate has forest paths for walking, jogging or cycling with mountain bikes.
Dining is also a terrific experience. The talented chef Nicolas Masse has been one of the leaders in the farm-to-table trend in the region. At the gastronomy restaurant La Grand’Vigne, he earned two Michelin stars. For more casual fare, try the bistro La Table du Lavoir or the wine bar Rouge, which serves delicious tapas. Rouge is also an upscale epicerie, so you can put together a picnic.
