Médoc - Winemaker for a day

Your schedule

Médoc - Winemaker for a day

1/2 day - Guided tours

What makes Bordeaux wines so special? It’s all in the blending.

The blend is the final stage in making wine. The winemaker tries to make the best possible wine by combining several grape varieties based on their “terroir” or the soil where they’re grown. It's this soil which is a major factor in giving wine its distinctive taste characteristics, and each winemaker creates his own style which he closely follows from one year to the next. Bordeaux Wine Trails invites you to blend your very own wine during this tour.

You’ll first visit a Grand Cru Classé wine château in the Médoc region and taste prestigious wines to fine-tune your palate. The next stop will take place at a small winery where you’ll be greeted by the owner himself who, following a short tour, will reveal his own secret recipe for making exceptional wines.

1:50 pm: Meet your guide in front of the Bordeaux Tourist Information Center.

2 pm: En route to the Médoc vineyards. Along the Route des Châteaux, your guide will tell you about Bordeaux’s vineyards and you’ll see some of the region’s quintessential landscapes.

3 pm: Tour at Château Cantenac Brown, a Grand Cru Classé winery in the Margaux appellation; wine tasting with Cabernet Sauvignon wine blends which have made Bordeaux so famous!

4:30 pm: Tour of a family-owned winery Château Reverdi in the Listrac-Médoc appellation. Accompanied by the owner, you’ll participate in a fun-filled blending workshop followed by wine tasting with a plate of local specialties such as cheeses and cured meats.

7 pm: Back to Bordeaux in front of the Tourist Information Center

* The chateaux can be replaced depending on their availibility

30. August: chateau Paloumey will replace chateau Reverdi
13. September: chateau Paveil de Luze will replace chateau Reverdi

For this dates the blending workshop will be replaced by the tasting of local specialties
